Bird Bellows Bird Control System Combats Pigeon Infestation Problems on America's Roadways and Bridges.

Bird Bellows bird proofing system fights pigeon problems.Up until the advent of BirdMaster's Bird Bellows system, many engineers pondered the problem of how to prevent pigeons from nesting and roosting inside hollow sections of roadway. Guano from these birds not only makes it unhealthy for roadway inspectors, but, over time can also damage the fabric and structural integrity of roadways and bridges. Our Bird Bellows bridge bird proofing system eleminates this problem.

Bird Bellows is a flexible, stainless steel bird proofing system designed for easy installation in the space between bridges and roadway expansion joints. Our exclusive patent-pending design allows the bellow to flex and move in unison with the expansion joint.

Bird Bellows bird control system is used on the Boston Central Artery Project's elevated roadway sections.

We were asked if we could provide a product to prevent birds from entering the elevated sections of roadway on the newly constructed I-90 approach road. Current acceptable methods was to use plastic netting permanently attached to stainless steel cable. The main disadvantage of this system was that it was not easily removed for bridge inspections and the plastic netting could potentially degrade in harsh environments.

Bird Bellows design overcame these weaknesses and also simplifies the installation process.

The system is completely removeable and can be reinstalled quickly and easily between bridge pier inspections.

The Massachusetts Department of Highways approved the Bird Bellow design and it was installed into 16 expansion joints. Bird Bellows has also been deemed acceptable for purchase for use on Texas Department of Transporation projects.

The major benefit of this product is that it protects workers and inspectors from the potential hazards of disease-carrying bird guano.

Here are some reasons why Bird Bellows™ elevated roadway and bridge bird exclusion system is vastly superior to other methods:

  • Designed for easy installation in the spaces between expansion joints of elevated roadways and bridges.
  • Utilizes PVC coated stainless steel.
  • Welded 3/4" mesh size 18 guage(1.2mm) thickness.
  • Anchored with .25" x 1.75" stainless steel wedge anchors.
  • Expandable exclusion system moves in unison with expansion joint.
  • Can be re-installed easily between bridge inspections.
  • Maintenance free.
  • Two year limited warranty. Extended warranties available.
